A little over a year ago (as I write this post), I reviewed the Teasing Master Takagi-san manga (review should be seen in the block below). Naturally, I wanted to read the spinoff-sequel, even if someone new did the series.

Note: There are Kindle versions of this manga for sale on Amazon.com. However, the series has NOT been licensed for America. Further, the things you can buy on Amazon.com are actually scanlations, which are freely available from your favorite aggregate site.

There’s No Story

Teasing Master (Former) Takagi-sanIn Teasing Master (Former) Takagi-san, the former Takagi-san and Nishikata are married. They have a daughter named Chi. “Takagi-san” is a housewife. Nishikata is a P.E. teacher. For most of the manga, Chi is around four years old. The various chapters deal with some slice of life element of their family life. Takagi-san, who still doesn’t have a given name, still teases her husband and her daughter. Nishikata still acts like a child at times when it comes to his wife’s gentle teasing.

From time to time, some little slice of life chapters will be at an earlier point in their marriage, when Chi is younger. Others are when Chi is older and are the basis of the new spinoff, Karakai Jouzu (?) no Nishikata-san. Everything is sweet and wholesome. When a new chapter came out, I truly enjoyed the experience. For the most part, each chapter gave me warm fuzzies and were a highlight of a day.

And yet there’s nothing to make the manga stories stick in my mind beyond the generalities. To be honest, I can barely remember the last chapter that just released. 😅 I do remember wishing that Nishikata acted more like an adult. The way he acts, sometimes it made me think, “How’d you have sex with your wife?”

This is a case of the status quo from the original manga. By the end of that manga, Takagi and Nishikata did make some progress. And yet we knew they’d get together because Teasing Master (Former) Takagi-san shows them married. And for this manga, the only progress is that husband and wife say they love each other. I’m pretty sure they never did before this.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Teasing Master (Former) Takagi-san is fun and enjoyable fluff. Unfortunately, without substance, the fluff is only a fleeting thing. However, if the series ever got licensed, a reread wouldn’t be a bad thing at all.
